I recently had the privilege of being a guest on a podcast at RedeemedReader.com, a site that reviews children’s literature from a Christian perspective. The other guests were a few writers from WORLD magazine and an editor from Thomas Dunne. We talked about the value of fiction to children (and adults) and of science fiction in particular. We discussed the effects of fiction on children, and how parents ought to consider what books they allow or encourage their children to read. The new Ender’s Game and Hunger Games movies and books were part of the discussion: are books with such violent content appropriate for children? How could such books be considered valuable? Listen to the podcast to find out. (Scroll down a little until you see the play button.)
